| Pookai Ships Computer, Books and Funds to Angsoeng
Oct. 19, 2004 ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Pookai Book Project stuffed as much as it could into its fifth shipment of the year: a high-tech computer, books, and extra cash. The Project sent its usual $250 and books (39 of them). But it also sent a desktop computer packed with educational software and the capability to play movies; a printer-scanner-copier; and an additional $240 gathered to help the Angsoeng Library power a new generator. The computer was won late last year in a technology charity contest and has been slowly arriving at the Pookai offices in 2004. The computer, which has a DVD/CD drive and LCD monitor, also came with a HP printer/scanner/copier. Along with it’s regular $250 to help fund the library, The Project shipped $240 raised through the efforts of the Keep Angsoeng Lit Campaign that will help power a generator purchased by Angsoeng Library founder Chandara Lor. Additional funds donated for the Keep Angsoent Lit Campaign will be shipped later this year. The books in this shipment are: Atlas of the World by Keith Lye; Snowballs by Lois Ehlert; More, More, More said the Baby by Vera B. Williams; Dinosaur Bones by Bob Barner; Lilly’s Purple Plastic Purse by Kevin Henkes; Wonders of Rivers by Rae Bains; The Cat Who Wore A Pot on her Head by Jan Slepian and Ann Seidler; Froggy Plays Soccer by Jonathan London; Tico and the Golden Wings by Leo Lionni; Chester the Worldly Pig by Bill Peet; ABC by Cyndy Szekeres; The Legend of Spookley the Square Pumpkin by Joe Troiano; Indian Two Feet and His Horse by Margaret Friskey; Buttons Buttons by Rozanne Lanczak Williams; The Spike Tailed Dinosaur by Michael Berenstain; Yoko’s Butterfly Kite by Lin Oliver; A Special Trick by Merger Mayer; Illinois by Allan Fowler; Moon game by Frank Asch; Mother Goose Rhymes; Curious George Rides A Bike by H.
