Pookai Project’s Goal for 2004: $1,500 and a Desktop PC

Dec. 29, 2003

ROCKFORD, Ill. – The Pookai Book Project will send $1,500 to the Angsoeng Library in 2004.

Project set new goals for 2004 at its annual end-of-the-year workshop. Will send its client, The Angsoeng Library, $250 and a shipment of books every other month starting in February.

In addition to its usual shipment of books and cash, the project will send in the first half of the year a desktop PC and children’s educational software. The computer was donated through Tiger Direct’s Build Your Own PC Charity Race. Project members acquired the software.

The Project’s goal is $300 more than last year’s $1,200 goal. Project board members will be talking more in coming to Angsoeng’s founder, Chandara Lor, to discuss specific books and additional goals for the library.

The Pookai Project’s mission is to help the restoration of Cambodia by gathering funds and need-specific books for the nation’s libraries. These donations will promote literacy, accelerate education, speed economic development and empower Cambodians to take their place on the world stage. Its first client is the Angsoeng Library, run by leading journalist Chandara Lor.
