The Pookai Book Project

The mission of The Pookai Book Project is to help the restoration of Cambodia by gathering funds and need-specific books for the Angsoeng Library in rural Takeo province. These donations will Schoolgirls reading in an shaded, outdoor area of the Angsoeng Library promote literacy, accelerate education, speed economic development and empower Cambodians to take their place on the world stage.

The Pookai Book Project enables even the smallest donation to positively affect the lives of children and adults. Donors have helped build a classroom; subsidize children’s English and art classes; expand the library to include adult and children’s sections; and bought new chairs, awnings and other smaller improvements.

The Project works closely with its client to get specific books that do the most good for the readers there. Since the project began in September 2001, The Pookai Book Project has become the Angsoeng Library’s principal donor.

We also maintain a weblog called Santepheap (Peace), which contains up-to-date news for travelers and others interested in life in Cambodia.

We invite you to learn more about our project and consider donating either money or books. Please contact us directly for more information.
